Let’s start with an introduction to gardening

Let’s start with an introduction to gardening

Gardening is no small task; it takes a lot of hard work and creativity, and an initial outlay of hard-earned cash. You need to decide whether you’re going to create a garden with flat beds, raised beds, stalks, or hydroponic gardens. Then you need to decide where the garden will be, back yard, side yard, another location, patio, or deck. Then you’ll need to decide what you’re going to plant, fruits, veggies, what kind, varieties, etc., and what about herbs. How much are you going to plant and for what purpose? If you plan to can the items you grow, then you’ll need to research the canning methods for those items, including water bath, pressure canning, freezing, dehydrating, or freeze-drying. As you can tell, there are many things to think about. Canning can be fun, but it’s time-consuming, so if you don’t have the time to do it, think of other ways to preserve your harvested items.

If you’ve never gardened before, I suggest you do a lot of research into how to garden. Read books, take horticultural classes, and don’t be afraid to fail; it happens to the best of us.

Next week, we will begin designing your garden. Let’s get this party started!
